Pre Test 2 – Risk Management for the Health Care Assistant and for the Client

If you take the time to give your clients the respect that they deserve, you are less likely to be sued.

The Patient Bill of Rights lists the freedoms provided by your state constitution.

Risk management is an activity conducted by the facility’s middle management personnel and does not involve nursing
assistants.

If the client’s complaint seems very foolish to you, you don’t have to report it to the nurse.

If the equipment you are using for the client is not working correctly, stop using it, unplug it (if necessary), set it aside, mark
it with an “out of order” sign and notify the nurse.

One of the ways you can keep your client safe, is to know where to check the client’s diet and allergies so that you
always provide your client with the correct meal plan.

If you find a pill on the floor of your client’s room, do not give it to the client to swallow. Simple throw it away and go on
with your work.

If you are moving furniture on the unit where you work, it is permitted to leave some furniture in front of the exit door, as
long as it is just for a short time.

One of the most common client care problems is falls. Almost anything can cause a client fall, particularly if the client is elderly
and receiving medication.

An incident is a form that is used if there is a client or visitor accident and nursing assistants have nothing to do with this
form.
